Lauren-Jyoti a joint venture between USbased
Lauren Engineers & Constructors
Inc and Mumbai-based Jyoti Structures Ltd
has won a $123-million order to build a 50-
mw concentrated solar power plant in India.
An official from Jyoti Structures explained
that the joint venture christened Lauren-
Jyoti Pvt Ltd will be based in Mumbai.
The order placed by Godawari Green
Energy Ltd, a division of Godawari Power &
Ispat Ltd, is scheduled to complete by
2013. The project falls under the Jawaharlal
Nehru National Solar Mission.
In a concentrated solar plant, carefully
positioned mirrors focus sunlight on pipes
carrying fluid. The fluid heats up to several
times the boiling point of water to create
steam that powers a turbine, generating
electricity, a release from Lauren noted.
