Jhajjar KT Transco Pvt Ltd, a
51:49 joint venture between
Kalpataru Power Transmission
Ltd and Techno Electric &
Engineering Company Ltd, has
commissioned its 400kV intra-state
power transmission project in
Haryana. Commissioned on March
12, the project was completed in a
record time of 16 months from date
of financial closure. The project,
structured on PPP basis, is also the
first-ever transmission line to get
support under the Central
government's viability gap funding
(VGF) mechanism. The Rs.444-
crore project was financed by way
of Rs.76 crore of equity, Rs.276
crore of debt and Rs.92 crore was
VGF assistance.
JKTPL was awarded the project in
May 2010 by Haryana Vidyut
Prasaran Nigam Ltd (HVPNL) on a
DBFOT basis for a concession period
of 25 years, extendable by another
10 years. Haryana also is the first
state to have adopted the DBFOT
model in power transmission.

The 400kV transmission system
comprises of double-circuit Quad
Moose Line extending from Jharli to
Kabulpur, Rohtak (35 km) and
Kabulpur to Dipalpur, Sonepat (64
km) with two 400/220kV
substations of 24 bays each at
Rohtak and Sonepat. The
transmission system will facilitate
evacuation of 2,400 mw of power.
Initially, it will cater to the 2x660-
mw Jhajjar supercritical power
plant of CLP India in Haryana.
