Gamesa has secured the first orders to supply the G114-2.0 mw turbine in India, a model for which the worldwide order book already stands at over 2,000 mw. Specifically, these two contracts contemplate the installation of 92 G114-2.0 mw Class-S wind turbines (184 mw) in India, a release by Gamesa said. With the signature of this contract, the company's global order intake in 2015 topped 3,880 mw.

The first order, placed by an unnamed independent power producer, encompasses the installation of 50 of its G114-2.0 mw Class-S at a project located in Andhra Pradesh, which will be commissioned during 2016. The second order, placed by another unspecified Indian renewable energy developer, includes the supply of 42 of its G114-2.0 mw Class-S turbines to a wind farm located in Karnataka. The project is slated for commissioning in December 2016.

With a tower height of 106m, this new G114-2.0 MW class S turbine variant is custom-designed for the low wind speed sites of India.

In both cases, the turbines will be manufactured at the nacelle factory in Mamandur, close to Chennai, which Gamesa expanded one year ago in order to install a new production line and introduce the G114-2.0 MW into the Indian market.

Gamesa gets first orders for G114 turbine in India

The G114-2.0 MW is designed to yield more power at lower cost at low and medium wind speed sites, making it particularly suited to India's wind conditions. With a rotor spanning 114m, the new turbine’s sweep area is 38 per cent greater than that of the G97-2.0 mw and it produces up to 20 per cent more energy a year. This turbine is part of Gamesa’s 2.0-2.5 mw platform whose credentials include 21 GW of installations in 35 countries, the release added.

To date, Gamesa has installed close to 2,270 mw and services over 2,000 mw under O&M agreements. In addition, in its capacity as wind farm developer, it has developed 1,435 MW, according to the release.

Surya Roshini has obtained orders for 9W LED bulbs and street lights worth Rs.55.19 crore from Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) to be deployed in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. It is a one-time supply, the company noted in a stock exchange notification.

After successful installation of LED streetlights in Jodhpur, Aligarh, Varanasi among others, Eon Electric Ltd has landed a further contract worth around Rs.40 crore for installing LED streetlights in Rajasthan. Under this project, Eon will install over 1 lakh LED streetlights across various cities in the state, including Jaisalmer, Gangapur, Sri Ganga Nagar, etc. In this phase, Eon Electric will install high lumen (minimum 95 lumen/watts) streetlights to improve road lighting and enhance visibility on the streets, the company said in a statement.

Inox Wind Ltd has bagged a repeat order for a 100-mw wind power project at Rojmal, in Gujarat from Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd.  The order is TPREL’s fourth project with Inox Wind taking the cumulative orders placed with Inox Wind across various sites to more than 300 mw.   Inox Wind’s Rojmal site is one of the largest wind farms in Gujarat with a capacity of 400 mw.  More than 140 mw worth of capacity is already operational at the wind park including 50 mw of TPREL.  The commissioned common infrastructure facilities at the site are capable of supporting power evacuation of 400 mw.  TPREL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power and has around 215 mw of commissioned renewable assets, with another 250 mw in the pipeline.

Thermax has received an order worth Rs.353 crore from Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd to execute an energy efficiency improvement project, the Pune-based firm said in a release. Thermax will commission a 50-mw gas based co-generation plant at RCF’s facility at Thal in Maharashtra for captive power.  It will also install waste heat recovery boilers downstream of the turbines to provide required steam for process. The scope of supply includes two 25-mw gas turbines and 2x100 tph waste heat recovery boilers, besides civil works, balance of electrical, mechanical and instrumentation works. The project is to be completed in 22 months, the release added.
