Started way back in 1960 by manufacturing agricultural pumps
and motors, Mahendra Pumps (P) Ltd has today emerged as the
premier manufacturer of pumps in India.
The expertise at its disposal, gained over the years, coupled
with constant innovations and insight into customer's requirements
are something that is unique of the company. Also, products
that spell excellence, both in terms of quality and performance,
have made it one of the most trusted names globally.
In over four decades, the group has added a few more companies
to its fold. In 1973, Mahee Engineering (P) Ltd Unit-I was added.
It is engaged in manufacturing pumps for portable engines. This
was followed by Marvel Engineering Industries in 1977. This
unit manufactures domestic pumps and single-phase pumps for
agricultural applications. Another one Mahendra Submersible
Pumps (P) Ltd, established in 1985, manufactures submersible
pumps and jet pumps for domestic and agricultural applications.
The setting up of Mahendra Spinning Mills Pvt. Ltd in 1991 marked
its entry into the textile industry. This company is into the
production of cotton yarn. Finally in 1996, Mahee Engineering
(P) Ltd Unit-II came into being. It manufactures bore-well compressor
pumps.
Mahendra has the distinction of being the first pumpset company
in South India to receive ISO 9001-2000 accreditation from BVQI,
London. The company has over 650 models that covers every functional
parameters be it in domestic, agricultural or industrial applications.
Its pumps range is Centrifugal Monobloc Pumps, Open Well Submersible
Pumps, 200 MM (8'') Borewell Submersible Pumpsets, 150 MM (6'')
Borewell Submersible Pumpsets, 100 MM (4") Borewell Submersible
Pumps, Jet Centrifugal Monobloc Pumps, Borewell Compressor Pumps
and Domestic Monobloc Pumps.
Mahendra Pumps subscribes to dynamic management and quality
policies, which include efficient supply chain management strategies
and integrated manufacturing facilities.
"We had registered consistent growth since the past few
years. During last year, we grew at the rate of 15 to 20 per
cent. In this year, we expect a growth of 20 per cent,"
says Mahendra Ramdas, Managing Director, Mahendra Pumps (P)
Ltd.
Its strong network of over 1,500 and 14 sales offices ensure
seamless distribution of products across the length and breadth
of the country in the domestic market.
Mahendra is not without exposure to overseas markets. Its products
find its way into Asia and African countries. As part of its
strategy to perk up exports, it is in negotiations with leading
players in Australia and the Far East.
