The electrical projects division of BGR Energy Systems
Ltd has secured a turnkey contract from Power Grid
Corporation of India, for laying fibre optic cabling in lieu of
the existing ULDC microwave links in the northern region.
The contract is valued at Rs.99.41 crore and will be completed
over 22 months.
The scope of the contract includes building of fibre optic
backbone on power lines comprising of design, engineering,
manufacturing, supply, survey and transportation of
optical power ground wire and installation under "live line"
conditions in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi,
Punjab and Haryana. The scope of work will also involve
testing and commissioning.
The tender was issued on global competitive bidding
basis which has witnessed competition from several companies.
BGR Energy was successful against the other bidders,
such as Larsen & Toubro and TCIL from India, and
international companies like Viscos (Japan), LS Cables
(Korea) and ELTEL (Korea), a statement by BGR Energy
Systems said.
The Electrical Projects Division is currently executing
important contracts medium-voltage switchgear package
and a turnkey contract for implementation of 415V motor
control centres at Kalpakkam, Chennai, for Nuclear Power
Corporation of India. In addition, the division is also implementing
a 400kV and 220kV GIS Project for the 600-mw
Mettur project of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.
