Mumbai-based Hind Rectifiers Ltd has
announced that commercial production
has begun at its two new plants at Dehradun
in Uttarakhand. While one plant will make
rectifiers, invertors and convertors, the
other would produce
transformers.
Hind Rectifiers, popularly known as
Hirect, extended its manufacturing base to
Uttarakhand in 2007 by opening two plants
at Dehradun in April 2007. These units manufacture
products for railway applications,
and it is understood that the two new plants
will also cater to the same sector.
Hirect started in operations in 1958 by
setting up a manufacturing facility at
Bhandup, a suburb in Central Mumbai. In the
mid-1980s, Hirect
added Nashik as a
manufacturing base. This came about by
taking over Supreme Powertronics Pvt Ltd, a
Nashik-based company, which started off as
a sister concern to be amalgamated with
Hirect in 1995.
