
Okaya Power has set up a new inverter battery plant in Baddi district
of Himachal Pradesh. Set up with an investment of Rs.137 crore,
the plant will be eligible for excise duty exemptions available in the
northern state. In an exclusive interaction with Electrical Monitor,
Navin Sharma, Vice President, Okaya Power Ltd said that the new
Baddi facility will make batteries in the 80-180 AH range and would
have annual capacity of 12 lakh units.
The facility is Okaya's eighth—all located in Himachal Pradesh,
Sharma confirmed. The new unit has resulted in Okaya doubling its
inverter battery capacity to 24 lakh units per year.
Okaya Power manufactures batteries using Japanese technology
for inverters as well as UPS. Okaya has over 41 per cent market share
in India with respect to inverter batteries. Okaya is the fastest growing
battery brand in India with an installation base of more than 7 million
batteries and a nationwide network of more than 24,000 dealers
and 486 distributors, 506 customer care centers, 27 branch offices
all across India.
