BGR wins order for Maithon power project

Chennai-based BGR Energy Systems Ltd has won a Rs.15.5-crore turnkey order for setting up the total water system from Maithon Power Ltd. The contract is scheduled for commissioning by March next year. As part of the contract, BGR will set up  pre-treatment plant of 100 mld, two streams of demineralisation plant with processing capacity of 80 m3/hour, a cooling water treatment plant and an effluent treatment plant for MPL's upcoming 2x525-mw coal-fired power plant in Jharkahnd. Maithon Power Ltd is a joint venture between Tata Power Company Ltd and Damodar Valley Corporation.

The environmental engineering division of BGR Energy Systems Ltd is currently executing such total water systems for two 500-mw projects (Kakatiya and Kothagudem) of APGenco in Andhra Pradesh, the 500-mw Khaperkheda project for Mahagenco in Maharashtra and the 600-mw Mettur project of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.
