BGR Energy Systems has signed an MoU with the Orissa government to build a mega power plant in the coal-rich eastern state. The Chennai-based EPC company for power projects signed the MoU with the Orissa government on April 9.

The proposed 1,320-mw power project with two units of 660-mw each will be located at Bhapur in Nayagarh district. BGR will form a special purpose vehicle to implement the project, estimated to cost Rs.6,287 crore, on IPP basis.
