NTPC to double capex in FY11

ntpc.jpgNTPC has planned to double its capital expenditure during 2010-11. The Central PSU has planned to spend Rs.29,104 crore on its own projects and those of its joint ventures, as compared with Rs.14,002 crore in 2009-10. NTPC has targeted to add 4,150 mw of new power generation capacity in 2010-11 that would substantially exceed the 1,490 mw of capacity put into operation last fiscal. NTPC and its joint venture companies are currently working on building 17,830 mw of new power capacity spread over 18 locations.

In 2010-11, NTPC plans to borrow Rs.12,818 crore to partfinance its projects. Out of this, Rs.9,860 crore would come from the domestic market while Rs.2,958 crore is what has been planned as overseas borrowings that could include $500 million through external commercial borrowings.
