Ghodawat commissions wind turbine prototype

ghoda.jpgGhodawat Energy Pvt Ltd, the renewable energy arm of Sanjay Ghodawat Group, has completed the commissioning of Ghodawat 1650 Prototype at the Kaledhone site located at Satara district, Maharashtra.
At the Kaledhone site, the machine generated 128,897 units (kwh) of electricity till October 14, 2009 by completing 50 hours of running on 50 per cent load, mandatory by Germanischer Lloyd. The 10-mw project at Kaledhone site has received statutory clearances.  The site has received approval from Centre for Wind Energy Technology (C-WET) and is under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) registration.
GEPL in partnership with AMSC-Windtec GmbH, Austria, leaders in the renewable energy business, had launched the prototype; state-of-the-art indigenously manufactured wind energy converter- "Ghodawat 1650" in August 2009.
Speaking on the occasion, Shrenik Ghodawat, Managing Director, GEPL, said, "We are proud to announce the successful completion of commissioning of G1650 prototype at our site. The Ghodawat 1650 is the first Wind Turbine, for Indian markets, manufactured jointly with our partners AMSC-Windtech GmbH. This alliance has facilitated our endeavour to launch a world class product which is well-equipped to meet the future requirements of the industry."
"With the completion of our prototype set up at the Kaledhone site, we will be putting a total of 15 wind turbines in India in 2009-10, thus adding a wind power capacity of 25 mw. We have assigned a capex of Rs.100 crore for the same over the next one year," he added.
GEPL is also a key component supplier in the wind power sector with 100-mw of operational wind farms spread over Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Gujarat. It also has a wind turbine tower manufacturing facility with a capacity of 400 towers per year.
