The Electrical Projects division of BGR Energy
Systems Ltd has been awarded turnkey contracts
by Power Grid Corporation of India for installing
optic fibre ground wire (OPGW)-based communications
backbone. The new OPGW communications solution
would replace the ULDC microwave links on its existing
power transmission structures in Karnataka, Kerala,
Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry. The order is valued at
37 crore and is due for completion within 18 months.
The installation will be done under live-line conditions.
With this order worth 1,575 km, BGR Energy Systems will
have installed over 6,000 km of OPGW lines on a
cumulative basis.
