Moser Baer commission solar plant for Mahagenco

Moser Baer has announced the successful commissioning of its largest thin-film solar farm project. The 1-mw plant located at Chandrapur has been set up using amorphous silicon thin-film technology is said to be India's first such plant. The grid-connected plant was set up for state power utility Maharashtra State Generation Company Ltd (Mahagenco) and is located in the premises of Mahagenco's Chandrapur thermal power station.

Moser Baer has provided complete turnkey solution including design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, power evacuation and testing. The company will also provide operations & maintenance services for the project. Moser Baer has signed a consortium agreement with a Germany-based company SunEnergy GmbH for this project.

In a statement, Dr. Rajiv Arya, CEO of Moser Baer Photo Voltaic, said: "This solar farm showcases our EPC capabilities and epitomises our abilities in designing and developing solar farms that match the global standards and meets the specific local requirements. It also underlines the suitability of amorphous silicon thin film panels in ramping up grid connected solar farms in high ambient temperature region like India."

Moser Baer Photo Voltaic Ltd, a subsidiary of Moser Baer India Ltd, has an annual production capacity of 90 mw of crystalline cells, 90 mw of crystalline modules and 50 mw of thin films.
