Punj Lloyd makes renewables foray

Solar Mission cleared
The Union Cabinet approved the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission on November 18, 2009. The mission aims to feed 20,000 mw to the national grid by 2022, with an initial investment of Rs.4,337 crore. Nalco signs MoU with NPCIL for nuke plants
National Aluminium Company Ltd has signed an MoU with Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd to collaborate in setting up nuclear power plants. The public sector aluminium company intends to diversify into commercial power generation by leveraging its experience in captive power generation. Currently, Nalco has a 1,080-mw captive power plant at Angul in Orissa. This plant's capacity is slated to rise to 1,200-mw by March 2010. More>>
