3rd October 2012 – Interact announced the winners of its 2012 Intranet Excellence Awards on Tuesday during an exciting ceremony at Interaction Intranet Conference, in London.

The awards attracted exceptional entries across Europe and America. Glasgow Housing Association, one of Europe’s largest social landlords scooped the most awards including the top accolade of ‘Best Intranet’ – for demonstrating that their intranet had the strongest blend of communication, business process and collaboration and demonstrating how they use Interact Intranet to solve actual business problems.

They were also awarded first place in ‘Best Intranet Design’ and commended for their intranet launch strategy and for their use of the social intranet tools in Interact Intranet, including the Clever Linker making the intranet easy to use for non-technical employees.

CEO and Founder of Interact, Nigel Danson presented Wendy Jordan, Internal Communication Co-ordinator with her awards. He said:

“The entries for the Intranet Excellence Awards this year were an extremely high standard. They demonstrated the huge benefits organisations gain from using the unique tools available in Interact Intranet, to create an intranet that is now an essential business tool for their organisation.

For a relatively new intranet, Glasgow Housing Association’s Holmes demonstrated a fantastic blend of communication, business process and collaboration, providing the company with an intranet that is used by almost everyone including traditionally hard to reach field workers. Not only were this group engaged by Holmes but empowered and encouraged by it to offer ideas to the board to solve every day challenges.

I would like to congratulate everyone who entered the Intranet Excellence Awards and I look forward to reading entries for the 2013 awards, which promise to be bigger and better!”

Kelly Freeman, from beauty and health retailer, Superdrug was awarded Best Intranet manager due to her dedication to the Superdrug intranet which has resulted in huge user adoption from director level downwards and fantastic usage of social tools including blogging and discussion forums to improve their business processes. Superdrug’s use of the Question Bank tool to inform store staff about new product launches was remarkable in its simplicity and business results; employees receive product samples if they score above 80% on a product test. The majority of these users accessed the intranet from home in their own time.

Facilities management company, Romec were winners of Best Return on Investment with their intranet, proving they had saved £2.1 million in one year, using the online forms offered in Interact Intranet’s ‘Workflow and Forms’  module, which allows simple online forms to be made on the intranet to streamline business processes. This included an online performance review for all 4,500 employees.

Global security business, G4S took first place for their innovative global intranet launch strategy which involved them setting up a web editor group using the online tool, Interact Teams to share ideas and good practice and successfully launching their intranet in 125 locations around the world.

The winner of the Best Social Intranet was Business Environment as voted for by the audience of Interaction. They proved that they had fully embraced the social tools in Interact Intranet including micro-blogging and discussion forums, taking the unique approach of building a business layer onto a very social intranet. This has resulted in 100% usage by employees this year. The collaboration space on the homepage of their Interact Intranet lets their staff communicate on all levels to dramatically improve business processes in their organisation.

Louise Cheshire from Futures Housing was voted ‘Best Community Influence’ by her peers for having the most presence on the Interact Community – an exclusive online customer community dedicated to help Interact customers maximise the potential from their intranet.

This exciting new release includes the brand new Activity Management module which provides intelligent activity distribution and collaboration capabilities; four new Interact Apps and an enhanced widget admin area to further improve the integration of business management on Interact Intranet. With the launch of Version 5.1 Interact has further confirmed its leadership within the social intranet marketplace.

The Activity Management module makes it simple for enterprise organisations dispersed over various locations to assign business activities to employees via the intranet, providing managers and head office staff with full transparency on how employees are progressing with activities and the ability to quickly identify missed deadlines.

The Interact Apps offering has been extended in Interact Intranet Version 5.1, adding to the many existing apps Interact Intranet contains including the Twitter, Exchange and SharePoint Apps. The new apps are: Interact Translation App – allows users to rapidly translate the whole of Interact Intranet into the language of their choice with the click of a button; YouTube App – embed YouTube videos and playlists directly into the intranet without the need for existing coding knowledge and the Google Maps Widget – removes the need for existing API knowledge to quickly add a map onto the intranet homepage.

To assist the Intranet Manager with homepage management, the Rotating Banner Widget – provides an interactive way for the Intranet Manager to display multiple messages including images, text or html, conserving valuable intranet real estate on the homepage. To sustain the increasing number of widgets available in Interact Intranet, the widget selection interface has been reengineered and now has a search functionality which lets the Intranet Manager locate specific widgets in an instant. Best practice advice is offered on where it thinks you should position the widget and new system text provides Intranet Managers with a short summary of the selected widgets functionality including whether the widget is AA compliant.

In addition, there are a number of product enhancements that have been developed to boost the existing feature set performance in Interact Intranet including the improved statistics and search analytics. This offers upgraded statistics around profile completeness, which is linked to the Signpost Widget from Version 5 – so that Intranet Managers can gain deeper information on who is using the intranet and how they are using it.

31st May 2012 – Interact, a leading supplier in intelligent intranet software today announced the appointment of intranet professional Nigel Williams as Community Manager.

The newly created role will see Nigel leveraging his substantial industry experience to grow the online Interact customer community to enrich customer experience and service provision for all Interact Intranet clients. He will also be working with the Interact Product Development team to manage collaborative best practice to further perpetuate Interact’s status as a leading player in the social intranet market place.

Nigel previously spent three years as Intranet Manager for facilities management company Romec, where he was instrumental in saving the company approximately £2.3 million per annum after successfully implementing an award winning intranet solution to a geographically dispersed workforce. His work contributed to a 30% reduction in internal emails and a 70% reduction in internal calls following the implementation of the Romec intranet. He is a dynamic intranet professional, regularly contributing and communicating with intranet peers via industry groups, events and focus groups.

April 16, 2012 – Interact is pleased to announce the US winner of its competition, that was open to all charities and non-profit organizations world-wide to win a free charity intranet solution for their organization.

March Of Dimes, a non-profit organization for pregnancy and baby health were selected as the US winner by a board of judges headed up by Sam Marshall Owner of independent intranet consultancy Clearbox Consultancy and Mark Morton, Digital Media Manager of Epilepsy Action.

There was a huge response from charities world-wide to the competition which was launched in November 2011. Entrants were asked to answer a qualifying question about how a collaborative intranet solution would transform processes in their charitable organization.

The judges agreed that Interact Intranet would provide a great social intranet platform for specialists located throughout the US in individual hospitals so they could collaborate with each other and share ideas to best meet the needs of the families who need their help. Having an intranet solution with interactive discussions, blogs, activity streams and an intelligent search would allow March of Dimes to focus on their ultimate mission of working together for stronger, healthier babies.

March of Dimes CIO, Alan D. Kauffman said:

The March of Dimes is immensely grateful to have won this competition.  As we provide local support and program activity in over 250 communities – communicating, sharing best practices and collaborating across this far-flung organization is a constant challenge.

February 25th, 2012 Interact has announced the opening of its first subsidiary in Dallas, Texas marking a significant milestone in the company’s US expansion strategy. Interact has been supplying intranets for over 10 years and has a robust reputation of delivering successful and collaborative intranet solutions to leading companies. The new office positions the company to further support its existing US customer base and maximise continuing growth opportunities in its sales and services offering.

Two dedicated senior intranet consultants have been appointed to be based in the new office. Jason Onufrak and Marco Morales have over 15 years combined experience of selling software solutions, with over half of this time specifically selling intranets to organisations across the US. The full US team have delivered over 300 intranets and will provide a full offering of professional services.

Interact Announces the UK Winner of its Global Charity Intranet Competition

16th February 2012 – Interact is pleased to announce the UK winner of its charity intranet competition, a contest open to all charities and non-profit organisations world-wide to win a free intranet solution for their organisation.

There was a huge response from charities all over the globe to the competition which was launched in November 2011. Entrants were asked to answer a qualifying question about how a collaborative intranet solution would transform processes in their charitable organisation. Shortlisted companies were then asked for more information including the current issues facing the charity and how an intranet would make a difference to their internal operations.

North Devon Hospice a local charity, supporting individuals and families who are faced with the impact of a terminal illness, were awarded the UK winner by a board of judges headed up by Sam Marshall Owner of independent intranet consultancy ClearBox Consulting and Mark Morton, Digital Media Manager of Epilepsy Action.

The judges said that Interact Intranet would provide a collaborative social intranet platform for North Devon Hospice’s remote workers to discuss and share information 24/7 which is crucial for the charity that has a community nursing team operating across a large geography who are often isolated from news, events and processes.

Sam Marshall, owner of ClearBox Consulting said:

All of the charities were very worthwhile causes, but North Devon stood out for the sheer enthusiasm for the work that they do and the breadth of the ideas that they put forward. They had a clear vision of the multiple ways in which Interact could help them progress and of all the submissions they seemed best-placed to take a new intranet and really run with it.”

Gordon Lester, CEO of North Devon Hospice commented:

We are really thrilled about winning this competition.  We’re looking forward to rolling out an intranet for the charity and also the opportunity to work with Interact.  We work remotely across the length and breadth of North Devon, caring and supporting our patients and their families.  An intranet means our nursing teams can work across the rural area with the hospice in their pocket, that we can better communicate between our 12 charity shops, that we can generally stay in touch with each other with more ease and refine our processes, making us more efficient…the list just goes on.

North Devon Hospice will receive the Interact Intranet core software and a number of modules including the Workflow and Forms module so they can move all of their paper based forms online and the Blogging Tool – which will enable all staff and volunteers to communicate, as well as breaking down knowledge silos. They will also get Statistics and Search Analytics so they can analyse what is working on their intranet and what could be improved.
In addition, Interact are providing a dedicated project manager to assist North Devon Hospice with the implementation, a year’s unlimited support and software updates, accompanying consultancy and training sessions as well as a bespoke design.

The US winner of the competition will be announced in the coming weeks.
