Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd has
targeted to spend 2.5 per cent of its
total sales turnover on R&D activities,
during 2012-17. The company’s total
turnover is likely to cross Rs.1 trillion by
2017. In FY12, BHEL spent Rs.1,162
crore on R&D that was 2.3 per cent of its
total turnover of Rs.49,301 crore.
The value of in-house developments
from R&D inputs is pegged at Rs.9,512
crore. BHEL's R&D centre at Hyderabad
that is the hub of the company's
research activity has filed a total of 351
claims for intellectual property rights.
