Alstom T&D India has been
awarded a contract worth
around Rs.150 crore by the
Jaypee Group for the 3x660-mw
Prayagaraj supercritical thermal
power project in Uttar Pradesh.
The scope of work includes
designing, manufacturing, supply,
erection, testing and commissioning of
765kV generator transformers,
interconnecting transformers, lines
and bus reactors.
Alstom T&D India is the first
company in India to have locally
manufactured and commissioned 765
kV class generator transformers and
interconnecting transformers in the
country. The transformers and
reactors for this project will be
manufactured at Alstom's state-ofthe-
art facility at Vadodara.
This facility is the company's most
recent build, with modern machinery
and equipment, serving all domestic
and export markets. The factory is also
equipped to conduct all routine tests,
type tests and special tests as per
national and international standards, a
release from Alstom T&D India noted.
765kV substation order: Alstom
T&D India was also awarded a
contract valued at Rs.74 crore by Jyoti
Structures Ltd, a prominent turnkey
EPC power transmission company, for
supplying two 765kV substation
packages. These packages-at Jabalpur
(Madhya Pradesh) and Nellore
(Andhra Pradesh)-are for Power Grid
Corporation of India Ltd.
Under the contract, Alstom T&D
India will supply products including
circuit breakers, disconnectors,
instrument transformers, current
transformers and capacitive voltage
transformers for several 765/400kV
substations. These advanced
switchgear products will improve
power transfer capacity and reliability
of India's electrical grid network
enabling bulk power transmission
from several generation plants located
across the states.
