Adani Power Maharashtra Ltd, a unit of Adani Power Ltd, is constructing a coal-fired supercritical power plant with five units of 660-mw each. The first two units were commissioned in FY13 itself. The third unit, taking the plant’s total capacity of 1,980 mw, was commissioned within a record time of 20 days from synchronisation, as against an industry standard of three months, it is learnt. The Tiroda project, on full completion, is shaping up to be Maharashtra’s biggest power generation facility.

Adani Power has targeted to achieve a power portfolio of 10,000 mw by 2014, growing up to 20,000 mw by 2020.

Adani Power Ltd now has a total generation capacity of 7,260 mw, including 4,620 mw from the Mundra project in Gujarat, which is India’s largest private thermal power plant, and 660 mw from the first unit of the 2x660-mw Kawai power plant in Rajasthan.
